We are pleased to announce these upcoming lectures this spring:
May 9 – Legends 2018, LA
Legends 2018, sponsored by LA’s La Cienega Design Quarter, will host a talk with Thomas Jayne and co-author Ted Loos on Wednesday, May 9th at 11am at Paul Ferrante, 8464 Melrose Place, Los Angeles. They will examine the relevance of Edith Wharton and Ogden Codman’s seminal 1897 book on decorating and take questions from the audience. Book signing and light refreshments will follow. The event is part of the Legends’s “In Conversation with…” series. Purchase a General Registration or VIP Pass to attend this and other programs during Legends 2018 from May 8-10.
May 15 – Winterthur Museum, Winterthur, DE

The talk will be held on Tuesday, May 15 at 10am. Find out more about reserving a seat at the conference here or visit Winterthur’s site for further details.
May 18 – Boscobel, Garrison, NY
Boscobel, the elegant Federal period house museum in Garrison, New York, will host Thomas Jayne on Friday, May 18th at 6:30pm for a lecture and book signing. The talk will take place in the house’s entry hall, a handsome setting with views of the Hudson River. The room has been described as “lavishly decorated with historically correct block-printed wallpaper and marbleized canvas floorcloth” that “makes a grand impression on visitors” — a perfect place to hold a presentation on Classical Principles. Tickets are $25 for non-members and $15 for members and can be purchased here.
June 28 – The Mount, Lenox, MA
We are particularly pleased to announce a presentation and book signing by Thomas Jayne at The Mount, Edith Wharton’s house in Lenox, MA. He will focus on the influence Edith Wharton has had on the history of interior design and discuss the timelessness of the principles found in Wharton’s and Codman’s The Decoration of Houses. He will also describe how those principles both complement and diverge from his interpretation of classical interior design. The lecture will be on Thursday, June 28 from 4:00 pm to 5:00pm and followed by a light reception and book signing session. Tickets are $15 for Mount members and $20 for non-members and can be purchased here.
