HB describes the house: “with color reaching to the rafters, the storied country home hits new heights of style”. Thomas Jayne and senior designer William Cullum apply fresh new decoration to Balderbrae, David Easton’s former pastoral retreat and once the site of an historic garden, adding a few eccentricities and modern touches to its traditional country house design.
We are pleased to share the full Balderbrae story from House Beautiful’s September color issue, only available in print till now. The article includes Kathleen Renda’s interview with Thomas Jayne and Senior Decorator William Cullum where they discuss their approach to decorating the house and how they tried to preserve some of the house’s past legacy. They also share how the varied interests of its current owner, a classicist and Egypto-phile, and artist who paints mythological subjects, provided much of the inspiration. Read the story here.
