The New York Times Features our Artist’s Guesthouse

Published 10.01.20

Jayne Design Studio’s latest project makes the cover of The New York Times’ twice yearly Design Section.

Our newest project, a Long Island artist’s guesthouse for our clients Betsy and Bryan H. Lawrence, is profiled in the October 1, 2020 issue of The New York Times, in their twice yearly Design Report. Writer Ted Loos tells the tale of this “Narnia House”, transformed by Thomas Jayne and William Cullum to reflect the homeowner’s love of art, mythology and whimsy, while imbuing it with the spirit of early American architecture and Arts & Crafts details.

Each room is its own in both spirit and theme, with many thoughtful decorative elements waiting behind each door. Flame painted porch columns, a secret wardrobe door, two gallery spaces, a jewel box hideout, a turret room and a basement rich in textiles are just a few of the surprises you’ll find within. You can read the story on nytimes.com and the project in our own words on our site here.
