The New York Times features our redecoration of Chandler Farm, for Winterthur Museaum’s director Carol B. Cadou, her husband and two children. Chandler Farm is early 19th century Federal style home on the property of Winterthur, one of the most iconic American decorative museums in the world estates in the Brandywine Valley museums,  Thomas himself is a graduate of Winterthur’s masters program established by Henry Frances du Pont, so the project was very near and dear to all of us.

Traditionally it’s been the home of the executive director of Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library, and before the museum was established, it served as a two family home for the du Pont family’s estate workers. When Carol B. Cadou became executive director in May 2018 and moved in, it was in need of a refresh, one  that would suit the lifestyle of a modern family. The new look and feel of Chandler farm is symbolic of new leadership at the institution – one of the most significant cultural sites in the area, and it is emblematic of a new perspective on how history is preserved and, in a word, used every day. The legacy of du Ponts lives on in Chandler Farm, which is very much the home of a 21st-century family that beautifully reflects personal history and estate history.
